Ask Your MP to Support the Renters' Rights Bill

Did you know many people have to give up their pets because their rental agreement doesn't allow them? The Renters' Rights Bill is changing that.

Why is this Bill important?

  • Many renters are forced to choose between a home and their pets – pets they consider to be family.

  • The Bill stops landlords from unreasonably refusing pet requests.

  • It encourages responsible pet ownership in rented homes.

We’ve been delighted to see that, thanks to a campaign from Battersea’s supporters, there are welcome improvements in this Bill compared to earlier proposed reforms.

We've made progress, but there's more to do:

  • Clearer rules: We need clear guidelines on what justifies a landlord refusing a pet request.

  • Long-term security: Tenants who get permission for pets should be able to keep them throughout their tenancy.

  • A fair start: Let's stop discrimination against pet owners looking for rented accommodation.

How can you help?

Email your MP today and ask them to support the Renters’ Rights Bill on October 9th.
